Christening photography at St James’s Church – Paddington
St James’s Church in Paddington is a very pretty Church of England church. As a christening photographer, I’ve had the pleasure of photographing several christenings here. It’s been through some serious refurbs over the years, and is now looking glorious.
The light is quite complicated in this church, with some very dark pockets and some very bright windows. The correct exposure can be challenging, and this is where years of experience comes in.
The drama of the ceremony with heady incense and plenty of symbolism is a dream to photograph.

Reception photos after the christening, at The Victoria pub
I love capturing the fun and more relaxed atmosphere at receptions after the service. This can be a great opportunity to photograph guests relaxing and enjoying themselves, and also to take some more family or group shots if you’d like them.
Having photos from the end of the day makes for a great ending to albums, they really complete the story.
