It’s easy for me to say it’ll be a fun and relaxed experience, but will it really? How does it really really having me photograph your family?
I put some questions to families I’ve photographed so you can hear from them directly.
Newborn session
Why did you choose me to take your family photographs?
“I loved your style and the way you capture the special candid moments amongst families. I also loved the way you use natural light to give the photos elegance and beauty.”
If you were to recommend me to your friend or colleague, what would you say? Why should they choose me?
“I would definitely recommend Louise not only because she takes wonderful photos but she also has a great demeanour. She made our family feel very comfortable and was so patient especially when our newborn didn’t want to settle! She even offered a few tips to help soothe the baby that we used again.”
Why did you choose an ‘at home’ / location photographer rather than a studio photographer?
“Being in your own home allows for a much more relaxed photo shoot.”
Did you have any hesitations or reservations before booking your portrait session? What did you feel unsure about, what were you anxious of and / or what questions did you need answered?
“I didn’t have any reservations. Louise came prepared and she adapted the setting throughout the shoot. She was great at including some of the special mementos that we really wanted to include in our photos.”
How did you find the experience of having your family photographs taken?
“It was great, and something we will look to do every year!”
What do you especially like about your photographs?
“That they capture our little one at such a young age, especially because she has grown so much. Some may think the pictures taken on phones are “good enough” but I think Louise captured moments, features and memories that only a professional really can.”
Can you say a little about your favourite photograph/s?
“I love the photo of our whole family – we just look so happy! I also love the photos that showcase my baby girl’s beautiful eyes, they are priceless.”
How important was it to you to have a newborn portrait session?
“Very. I knew I wanted this before our daughter was born.”

“I was struck by how natural, beautiful and authentic Louise’s photographs are.”

“Louise’s huge experience in working with families is really evident in the way that she puts everyone at ease and encourages even the littlest members of the family to shine.”
Why did you choose an ‘at home’ / location photographer rather than a studio photographer?
“I find studio photos a little contrived. I’m always aware when looking at them that any expressions are purely reactions to the photographer’s actions.
At home photos feel much more authentic. Louise encourages reactions where necessary, but when children are surrounded by their belongings or nature their reactions are real.
I also personally find plain white backgrounds and fake lighting less appealing in a frame.”
How did you find the experience of having your family photographs taken?
“Surprisingly relaxing! I’m not very comfortable in front of a camera but Louise made the process pain-free.”
What do you especially like about your photographs?
“Louise captured our children’s personalities perfectly. Their cheeky grins, their energy and joy, their protective big brother / little sister dynamic.
Louise took photos for us 2 years ago too and we still love those. Our children have grown up so fast and these photos are like a time capsule – recording not just how they look, but their personalities too. I cannot recommend doing this highly enough. We will definitely be booking Louise in for another 2 years’ time!”

“Louise has a wonderful eye for capturing unusual and unexpected moments.”
Why did you choose a location photographer rather than a studio photographer?
“It brings the pictures to life and made us all far more relaxed than a studio shoot. It was actually a very enjoyable and relaxed morning.”
Did you have any hesitations or reservations before booking your portrait session? What did you feel unsure about, what were you anxious of and / or what questions did you need answered?
“No – we have worked with Louise a number of times and we know she always delivers some wonderful shots.”
How did you find the experience of having your family photographs taken?
“Having recently transitioned from a three to a four – we wanted to capture this special time in the life of our family, and Louise did this perfectly.”
What do you especially like about your photographs?
“The autumn colours provided us (and particularly our red headed son) with a perfect back drop for this shoot.”
What were the highlights of the overall experience for you?
“We loved spending time with Louise after the shoot, looking over the results – we were beyond thrilled.”
Can you describe a memorable moment from the portrait session?
“Louise was particularly good at making us feel relaxed and locating some rather magical backdrops/locations for the shoot.”
What advice would you give other parents to help them get the most out of their portrait session?
“Just put your confidence in Louise and all will be good.”
How important was it to you to have a family portrait session?
“Very. It is obviously an investment in terms of time and cost, but we love the idea of capturing some special memories with a professional and extremely competent photographer – the photos from all our sessions with Louise are some of our most valued possessions as a family.”

Why did you choose me to take your family photographs?
“I wanted to find someone to photograph our family group as a surprise for my husband’s 40th birthday. After searching for some time and not seeing anything quite right, I hit upon Louise’s site and instantly loved the style, the set-up and relaxed nature of the pictures. From then on, the process was an absolute pleasure!”
What would you say to another family considering booking me to photograph their family? Why should they choose me?
“Book it! The session was incredibly low key and relaxed and we were intrigued to see the results. We bowled over by what she had captured, and it was exactly what we’d been looking for as a record of our little family.”
Why did you choose an ‘at home’ / location photographer rather than a studio photographer?
“Our little girl was just over 1 year old at the time, and we knew sitting still wouldn’t be her forte. Having the shoot somewhere she was familiar with and would be comfortable in was key. And she loved showing off all her little toys and playthings to Louise, which made for some lovely shots!”
Did you have any hesitations or reservations before booking your portrait session? What did you feel unsure about, what were you anxious of and / or what questions did you need answered?
“It’s always tricky to judge whether the shots will turn out as you hope but Louise had such a range on her site that I liked that I knew she would get the style we were after. All questions on what to wear and how the session would go were answered quickly and efficiently.”
How did you find the experience of having your family photographs taken?
“Great fun – and far more relaxed than we thought it would be. Louise was incredibly clever at just taking shots as we went along. She captured some incredibly natural and fun moments. The photos are very clever in their composition and outcome.”
What do you especially like about your photographs?
“We especially liked the natural style of the shots. She definitely captured the cheekiness of our little girl. My husband loved the experience as well, which shows in all the photos.”
What were the highlights of the overall experience for you?
“The highlights were how simple and straightforward the shoot was, how good Louise was with our daughter – and the excellent photos.”
What advice would you give other parents to help them get the most out of their portrait session?
“Do have a think about what you’re wearing in advance. Without too much preparation, we managed to wear some brighter colours and roughly coordinated which really helped the shots. A bit of pre-thought on that part really helps.”
How important was it to you to have a family portrait session?
“I had been wanting to have some professional shots of our daughter taken for a while, but felt including the three of us would be even nicer. We just needed the excuse of a significant birthday to make it happen!”

“Just to say that if you’re looking for some lovely family shots which are definitely a cut above the rest in terms of quality and style, Louise is the person for you!”
