Headshots: Contemporary Headshots For An Artist

About This Headshot Session

I’m based in London, but happy to travel! For this branding photoshoot, I headed to the beach to photograph artist Caroline Fraser.

Caroline is a fine art photographer who creates book art. She runs ‘Say it with Books’ workshops in person and online.

When I asked Caroline about her why, she told me, “I enjoy working with other artists. I enjoy teaching. It is part of my life journey, enabling me to express my view on life and the world through words and images.” What a great reason to get out of bed!

Caroline’s photography is a response to the beauty and infinite variety of nature. Her intimate landscapes are created using abstraction and layering. Further meaning is added by combining her words and images into beautiful limited edition handmade books. I wanted to find a way to show this poetic response to nature in her headshots, and also the attention Caroline pays to the small details in life.

I also set out to capture her passion for the environment, and the way she communicates peace and tranquility in her work. I hope you’ll be able to pick up on this in her personal branding photos.

I am so pleased with those headshots. I can’t tell you how nice it is to see some photos of myself looking happy and normal! I am absolutely thrilled to have some photos that I can use for my website.”

The Importance of Unique Personal Brand Photos for Artists

In the vast and competitive art world, standing out is crucial. Your artwork speaks volumes, but your personal brand may well be the voice that introduces it to the world. And an important part of your personal brand are your images.

Your headshots should:

  • Reflect Your Artistic Vision: Your photos should be a visual representation of your artistic style and aesthetic.
  • Build a Strong Personal Brand: Consistent, high-quality images help you create a recognisable brand identity.
  • Connect with Your Audience: Authentic photos help you build trust and rapport with potential collectors and clients.
  • Enhance Your Online Presence: In today’s digital age, your online portfolio can serve you well as your gallery. Strong images are essential.
